Welcome from the Directors

Dear Chairs and Delegates,

We are delighted to welcome you to TASMUN 2026! For the past sixteen years, TASMUN has been dedicated to create a space for younger students to build their leadership skills, engage in world issues, and foster relationships with one another. Our Secretariat team has been working diligently to host more than 400 students from 20+ schools!

As you prepare for the conference, each of you is investing time to research, analyze, and truly understand the global challenges you have been tasked with addressing. At times, the issues before you may feel vast with competing perspectives, complex dimensions, and difficult solutions. That feeling is not a sign of impossibility; it is a sign that you are thinking deeply. It is the first step toward becoming a thoughtful, informed, and ethical agent of change.

Our theme this year, “One Small Act: Expanding the Pathways to Global Opportunity and Prosperity,” invites us to reflect on how change begins. As author Susan Cooper reminds us:

“In the end, all it takes is one small action, by one person. One at a time.”

Model United Nations is not only about drafting resolutions or delivering speeches, it is also about listening carefully, negotiating respectfully, and acting with purpose.

So we’d like you to consider: What small act can you take today that positively impacts those around you? How might that act be the beginning of meaningful change for your community?

That is the challenge before you.

We look forward to the energy and ideas you will bring to TASMUN XVII!
